York Cycle Rally and Anerley Cycle Tour of the Yorkshire Dales

(Friday 17th June – Thursday 23rd June)

Are you up for a Cycle Tour in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales taking in a weekend at the famous York Cycle Rally?
If so let me know if you are interested by 7th March so I can get a WhatsApp group together to refine the details and book the accommodation.

York Cycle Rally

For years I’ve heard about the York Cycle Rally and fancied going. The York Rally, was founded in 1945 and is famous as the UK’s historic gathering for cycle tourers, grass-roots racers, vintage cycle experts and more! It’s run by volunteers. There is a programme of rides (for all levels), grass track racing, talks, cycle auctions, music & quizzes.

Rides range from family friendly pootles to evening pub rides to all-day adventures into the Yorkshire Moors and Dales.

It takes place on the York race course. Most people camp to enjoy the full atmosphere but there is plenty of accommodation in nearby York if preferred.

Itinerary

I’ve put a provisional plan together below. Once I know who is interested and how many people want to come, we can discuss the accommodation options and then we can start booking. I’d like to do that in the first couple of weeks of March.

The idea would be to drive up to York, attend the York Rally weekend, do a 4 day tour around the Yorkshire Dales, returning to York and driving home. It assumes camping but it may be possible to book other accommodation nearby for those who don’t want to camp or do a mixture (E.g. camping at the Rally but then using accommodation during the tour to avoid carrying camping equipment).
