Sunday Ride: 27th November 2016

Pausing for breath turning into the Kingswood Estate

Seventeen set out on a cool morning for Polesden Lacy. Chipstead, Little Switzerland and up the A24 cycle path to take the River Mole bridge by-passing Leratherhead and on to Bookham. A nice ride and warming enough for some idiot to decide we should eat and drink outside.

We doubled back to Bookham and then most of us turned west and then south to take us up Ranmore and down Whitedown Lane. Then the uppity-downy lanes passed Leith Hill to The Plough at Coldharbour. Here we lost a few more whilst assisting a rider who had lost a water bottle with necessary re-hydration. A very pleasant if rather expensive hostelry.

Not the kind you get in Purley as the accompanying shop had a bike replacement facility …

… but sadly no bungee cords to enable Ajay carry a pheasant or two home for supper …

Back down to Dorking taking the old Reigate Road to avoid most of the awful A25 and the usual Merstham/A23 re-entry to Croydon. A long 53.57 miles for the time of year at a moving average of 12.22 mph.
