Tuesday Ride: 26th June 2018

 

No 9:30 ride so we were a big group on a very hot day following Des on a Byzantine route out around Banstead to Epsom Downs and Ashtead. This featured an extended mechanical as Barrie attempted to fish the VO2 chain out its entanglement. This gave the rest of us {above and below] a pleasant opportunity to sharpen our tan lines.

Given the heat it wasn’t on to rush to make up the lost time so Des sensibly decided to divert from Bites at Ockham Common to Painshill Park for refreshment. A bit of a problem for someone who was planning to join us there …

Another innovative route across Fetcham Common which was a bit dusty to Leatherhead. Then down to Dorking by-pass where the silly division decided on Box Hill whilst the sensibles took on Little Switzerland. If that was bad enough, the final grind up to Headley Common was tortuous. Viv taking drastic measures to cool down:

Mick couldn’t cool down and retired for rescue at the Cock Inn [half a mile downhill!]
