Sunday Ride: 12th February 2012
Another ‘not the Sunday Ride’ report. The temperature on leaving the Saturday Club dinner was already down to 23F/-5C and dropping. We stayed sensibly at home.
Hence another opportunity to sit back and watch how other folks cope with snow and ice. Last week’s 6,000ft ride down the Matterhorn was, perhaps, too speedy for us Anerlerians. So this week relax and watch a slower, surer ride across Siberia’s Lake Baikal.
Lake Baikal is the world’s oldest lake at 25 million years and deepest, averaging 744.4 metres (2,442 ft). It is also the most voluminous freshwater lake in the world, containing roughly 20% of the world’s unfrozen surface fresh water.
