2018Rides

Saturday Ride: 26th May 2018

Another good turn out as a number or riders had looked at the heavy rain forecast for Sunday and thought Saturday was the better option. Good decision. We had sunshine and a warm breeze all the way.

We started with a popular route out along Chipstead Valley road, through Kingswood and on to the Downs at Tattenham Corner. Work was already underway getting things ready for The Derby this Saturday.

Then it was on to Ashtead, Leatherhead and then down the 20% descent to Pilgrims cafe at Westhumble for a very pleasant cup of tea in the Sunshine.

Miles, Bob and Vince left us at this point for a shorter return via Boxhill. Maggie, Karen, Ricky Jeremy, Stuart and Pete headed past Dorking to Betchworth Reigate Heath and then up past Gatton Park to a pub stop at The Well House Mugswell.

Last Saturday we stopped at the highest pub in Surrey. This week we were at the oldest pub in Surrey which is named the Well House Inn after St Margaret’s Well which is still in it’s beer garden and was mentioned in the Doomsday book of 1086

My Garmin threw a wobbly around Dorking so I’ve no accurate stats for the ride but it was about 46 miles.
