Sunday Ride 6th July 2014
Peaslake (Village store) back via Leith Hill
The Anerley tried to emulate the first Yorkshire stage of Le Tour by riding a route that took them up a few hills and down into a few “Dales”. The route started easy enough along to Box Hill then a fast down the zig zag. Those speed humps are definitely softer. First real climb of the day was up Ranmore with that nasty hairpin at the top. After a cruise along the top of Ranmore Common the turn off to White Down Lane was ignored thus taking the riders to another fast downhill with a cheeky 180 turn at the bottom on to Green Dene. A long gentle climb took the group of two towards yet another fast twisting downhill onto the A25. A wave to the fans and a quick nod to the expensive teas in the Dabbling Duck as we passed through Shere before a steady climb then dip then climb then dip before reaching Peaslake. Jim and Frank were the only two start from Shurgurd but on arrival at the teastop (Peaslake Village Stores) Jeremy was found to enjoying his second cup of coffee. A good selection of cakes and savoury things were available along with a nice mug of tea. It was time to head home, not via Walliswood as planned but up Hoe Lane, Abinger Common and Leith Hill. The trio bumped into Mark on his Molten at the top and stopped for a quick chin wag. The best part of the ride for me was the very fast downhill from Coldharbour into Dorking. Total feet climbed 3,104 Great effort “boys”.
Sorry there’s no pictures, I keep forgetting to take them 🙁
