Tuesday Ride: 9th May 2017
Was it seventeen – or more? who set out on a cool Tmorning. A sign of the growing popularity of the Tuesday Ride even when the sun isn’t shining. But more of that later. Off we set with John D leading and Des following with the second group. Some of us were relieved when John took the left rather than venture up Beddlestead Lane for a fairly flat ride to Downe. Well except the little bump up by Keston Church.
High Elms Golf Course Club House was, we found on arrival, in a state of reconstruction. Finding a place to leave our bikes we found the tradesmen’s entrance. We were ushered into a curtained off part of the bar. Whether to hide us away I wouldn’t know. Here John D led with hos proposals for splitting the Tuesday Ride which was welcomed by most. (More details in Bugle 283).
A canter back up via Botley Hill where the photo above was taken gave a ride of 29.47 miles at a moving average of 11.55 mph.
