Tuesday Ride: 31st October 2017
Tuesday’s ride was relatively short – just 31 miles but the hills made up for the lack of distance – including the dreaded Beddlestead. 21 riders turned up – many of which had made a wonderful effort for Halloween Day. A special mention for Maggie whose Witch hat and hair looked amazing. I’d like to mention everyone who made an effort using spiders, bats, skulls and even a bloodied t.shirt!! but the group photo will show who they were.
We followed the route through narrow windy roads past Tatsfield and onto Berry’s Green (where two riders opted for an easier path that avoided the Berry’s Green steep hill – you know who you are!!). At Downe we said goodbye to Sandra and Claire who both needed to get back early and continued down a long hill to the High Elm golf club for refreshments. After quite some time, we left the warm club, in weather that had a really wintery chill.
We warmed up again after returning back up the hill to Downe, from where we headed to Nash. Following a lovely Roman road, with wonderful views, we soon arrived back to the top of Beddlestead again. Thank you so much to everyone for your support on my first ride leading. 31 m 11.79 ave speed and 764 meters ascent.
