Thursday Ride: 3rd September 2015
Out for today’s ride where John D, Tom, Dave, Ricky and myself.
Once again a hilly ride we set off for the Scarlett Arms at Walliswood. I decided on a different route today, we rode through Chipstead and Kingswood as usual but dropped down Pebblecombe and rode towards Brockham and hit the climb of Leith Hill via the Dorking side. A few of the club had not climbed this beast of a Surrey climb before with many of us in bottom gear from the start. I reached the top followed by John D with Ricky a minute behind and Tom just behind. After a two minute wait there was no sign of Dave so Ricky and myself went to find him. He had punctured at the bottom but had walked nearly to the top to fix it. After a twenty minute puncture stop we set of for the pub where John and Meike had already started lunch, the food in this pub is really good. After lunch it was a bit of time trail practise on the Holmwood course followed by the back lanes of Holmwood common and Reigate back home. 57 miles in 4 hours 7 minutes average speed 13.7mph.
