Sunday Ride: 3rd September 2017
The weather forecast was not brilliant with rain later – but, hopefully, after we got back. We set off at a fair lick and kept it that all the way to the Conservatory at Horsham. It was downhill all the way too – including Pebblecombe which is always fun. No hills at all.
Remounting there was something a bit short of a drizzle in the air. Would it get worse?
At last Tom found a hill we could get our teeth into up to Colgate. Hang a left and one of Surrey’s finest long gentle descents back to Faygate. There had been a bit of a mix up about the pub stop. We declined The Lamb only 10 miles back into the ride (another time?) and settled on the Half Moon at Charlwood – a first for the club? Great beer (Doom Bar & Tribute) at reasonable prices. So not the last:
We meandered back via Redhill as the dampness disappeared for the afternoon. 55.91 miles at a very creditable 14.27 mph.
