Sunday Ride: 24th July 2016
Fifteen of us gathered for the ride to Polesden Lacey including a couple of guests out for a recce of the Pru100 Surrey Hills section the next Sunday. Yep, I’ve at last discovered the selfie button on my phone!
The weather was warm rather than the sweltering heat of the previous few days and we made comfortable progress through Little Switzerland to Polesden Lacey where we met our first impatient driver of the day. A shame as countless had been relaxed and followed uncomplainingly along the narrow windy lanes beforehand.
Another selfie and a grand line-up:
Recharged with National Trust tea and cake some took the early bath back to base whilst most of us wound our way gently south avoiding the lump that was Leith Hill on account of it being a bit much as the afternoon warmed up. Neverthereless ‘Don’t follow Frank’ and ‘No turn Ewa’ managed to lose us and head in an upward direction but were eventually reclaimed.
Onward to a busy Plough at Leigh:
A slight diversion on account of the closed bridge back through Reigate. Six months? How long should it take to rebuild a tiny bridge?
About 55 miles.
