Sunday Ride: 17th July 2016
A fine warm day but only eight starters and one retired early.
The good weather was more successful at bringing out the fly-tippers. Two large unsightly dumps along Pilgrims Way (not for the first time) and the one above on the final private road ascent on the return to Marden Park (first time?).
Otherwise an uneventful but speedy tail wind assisted ride to Ightham Mote – a new National Trust destination for us. We only saw the cafe – which was fine but there is much more to see. More here: http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/ightham-mote
Mathematicians may note we started with eight, lost one but there are only six here:
But we did snap the one who got away:
The outgoing tail wind refused to turn into a headwind and we made excellent speed without pressure back round to Tandridge where two of us took rest at the splendid Barley Mow. Thence back via the Marden Park rubbish dump. Whilst inspecting the tip we were joined by an equaly outraged Oxted CC member sporting this rear light that is rather more than a rear light. About 53 miles.
