Sunday Ride: 13th August 2017
We welcomed Lynne for her first ride with the Anerley. A tough one too when you can’t get easily onto your bottom chain-ring.
Yep. Tom was packing in the hills early. Sharp left up Purley Downs Road, the Beddlestead and the lump that is Secenoaks before arriving at Knole House. 365 rooms for 365 days and a tent for leap years. Plus 1,000 acres and not a few deer …
The National Trust Cafe had us up in the parapets. Not to mention the local population of wasps – or is it the same swarm that follows Jim everywhere to remind him of the midges he left behind in Scotland?
Then back on the bikes …
The hills were not done yet. Somewhere along the way Frank deviated to later meet up with the official deviaters who were off home for the early bath while the rest of us conquered Smarts Hill to the wonderful Spotted Dog – Time Out’s ‘Best Inn in Kent’. And with the best view of Kent too.
From here it was almost all downhill back through Marden Park. 55.47 miles @ 12.07 mph. Finally another of Geirge’s videos:
