Saturday Ride: 13th May 2017

Never underestimate the power of the press. Just one mention of the new Saturday ride in The Bugle and our numbers swelled by 33% !

The previous regulars of Roger, Graham and Pete turned up at Shurguard for the 10am start and were quickly joined by Des who said he had also been toying with the idea of starting some Saturday rides so let’s hope this is the start of another Anerley success.

The group set off to the popular tea stop destination of Shoreham air museum, via Beddlestead lane and the Pilgrims way, some of which now has a new smooth road surface.

The air museum really is a great tea stop, very cycling friendly, quick service ( take note Tully’s farm) and very good prices. A pot of tea just £1.50 and served with a smile too. Filling up of water bottles no problem and no charge.

Oddly it turned out to be one of those days where we set out into a head wind which stayed with us all the way to the tea break and within 30 minutes had turned 180 degrees so our return trip was into a steady headwind too.

At the top of Clarkes lane we headed along The Ridge and down through Woldingham village.
A total distance of 45 miles at an average speed of 12 mph.
