Saturday Ride: 27th May 2017
The Saturday rides popularity is increasing as 3 new riders were waiting at Shurguard from the 10.00 am start. Karen, Alice and Miles joined Pete for a trip via Coulsdon, Epsom Downs out to the tea stop at Bookham. The road closure on Outwood lane has been intensified and turned out to be barely passable for cyclists. As we were trying to find a way through we were joined by another club of about 20 cyclists and eventually we were able to squeeze past. I suggest that this route is avoided now until the works are completed.
Miles unfortunately had two visits from the puncture fairy and was forced to bail out just after passing through Kingswood.
Tea stop at Domestique in Bookham was very pleasant and the return via Boxhill wind assisted.
Total distance 38 miles at an average speed of 12 mph
