Tuesday Ride: 21st July 2015

In the absence of Tom, and to save John or Sandra leading consecutive rides, Tom Tom volunteered to take us to Greenwich. Tom’s focus was on safety so he arrived whistle in mouth to give us and pedestrians suitable alerts (although one was heard to say it was a bit like a shepherd herding a flock of sheep).

Leading us safely through the wilds of Croydon town centre we picked up the Sustrans Route 21 at South Norwood Country Park which led us mostly off road through parks following the Beck/Ravensbourne rivers through Beckenham, Ladywell, Catford, Lewisham and Deptford. After refreshments at the Greenwich Visitor Centre and a photoshoot, in which Jo managed to “volunteer!” a non-English speaking Romanian man to act as cameraman, the well-balanced group of 4 ladies and 4 gents returned.
