Sunday Ride: 7th June 2015
We were seven until we picked up a punctured stray on the Pilgrims Way!
Last week had been rained off so it was good to get out again and welcome back Ricki and Julia who had not been out with us for a little while. Chartwell is a bit close so guest leader Jeremy took us a new way out avoiding the unpleasant A22. Some of us signalled right automatically to go up Marden Park but instead we went straight on through Woldingham, across and back under the M25 before rejoining Pilgrim’s Way at the bottom of Clarks Lane.
Bread Pudding (£1.95) was Chartwell’s bargain of the day …
Thence we took a short diversion along a private road guarding some very private wealth and almost climbing Crockham Hill. A short run to the ever reliable Fox & Hounds at Tilburstow Hill for instant rehydration and an opportunity to, once again, admire Jeremy’s new steed this time sporting both mudguards …
Finally back up Marden Park pursued by this man in a cap. Was he really using The Anerley for a warm-up ride before doing another later that afternoon? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/33041998
