Sunday Ride: 30th August 2015
Three at the telephone box. Well it was August Bank Holiday but really!
We finally made it a quartet with Jeremy in Kenley before setting up Marden Park and off south of Edenbridge to a suggested new cafe venue at Haxted Mill. It was closed. But the piercing eyes of young Austen (above) penetrated the owner and he finally came out and asked if we wanted coffee – it would take ten minutes to setup. We were led round the back to the pool behind the Mill. Coffee, tea and drizzle cake arrived but no more customers. A curious place – no one could see it continuing for long in its current incarnation or at its current painful prices.
The first and last ABC visit?
Retreating back home Jim and Austen took on Ide Hill (because its there). Jeremy and I left them at Edenbridge to take on the less challenging Crookham Hill and on to the ever reliable Stanhope Arms at Brasted. Thence home via Clarkes Lane and Botley. A short ride.
