QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“Cyclists…are the gods of the road” - Actor, Nigel Havers,

BICYCLIST OF THE WEEK

One young Mark H of this parish. Sentenced to three months off-bike by his personal quack after an operation - Mark rewrote the calendar to reappear and lead this week's Thursday Ride to a challenging ascent of Leith Hill as starters at an exciting rate. "Don't worry, I'll soon be up to speed" he lied.

Welcome back Mark - even from the backmarkers trying to keep pace. You are a legend.

BICYCLE OF THE WEEK

The problem with tandems is that stokers sometimes don't want to spend the whole day admiring a pair of writhing buttocks. This may come as a surprise by the bloke upfront. So here is the awsome answer pictured last week somewhere in Belgium outside the works of a completely bonkers bike engineer. The reverse tandem. You can both stare into each others eyes as you bomb along. A certain amount of trust is required by the lassy in front as to where they are going.

JOHN T

Many of you may have heard that 10 days ago he was rushed to Mayday Hospital in a poor condition. You will be relieved to hear that yesterday he came back home. He is eating, he is very weak but he is home and with his fighting spirit the only way is up.

If you would like to go and cheer John (and Meike) up - you would be very welcome. But please be respectful and make it short (30 mins) and call and arrange it with Meike first.

EROICA BRITANNIA

Even younger Sian C has been up those hills on her trusty trike. Off piste or off beer this is an experience for the true retro cyclist. A real pre-1987 steel bike (or trike) apparelled in period gear. What's not to like? Read her story here: https://anerleybc.org/eroica-britannia/

FINALLY

Remember that flashy Lamborghini team car we featured at the Crroydon Team cycle race?
Its really a bit too showy for a proper British team ne c'est pas? Well the ever-reliable Bradley Williams has come up with the answer for his team vehicle - which has more wheels on top than underneath. Or is it he just a wee bit under financed?

Happy Cycling!
