At the Crown, Selsey, Whitsun Tour in the early 1890s Although it is now centred on Croydon, the A.B.C. was formed in Anerley in 1881. It sprang from a Hoop Club formed by a few young boys from Dulwich College

Robin Hood, Anerley

William Sanderson bought land on the former Penge Common, he built the first house in the area, which he named “Anerly”, a Scottish word meaning “solitary” or “only”
