QUOTE  OF THE WEEK

"“Cyclists…are the gods of the road.” -  Nigel Havers

BICYCLIST OF THE WEEK

... is our very own Fran. Pictured here about to depart as Club Leader for the first time. A rather successful one too with Tuesday's 'B' team beating the 'A' team to tea at cake at Four Elms.

Hopefully the first of many!

BICYCLE OF THE WEEK

A Brompton that packs a punch. This is Tom V's newly electrified bike.  Converted in an hour at home together with a standard bike for Mrs V to glide effortlessly together.

The front wheel is swopped out for one with a hub motor. Add a pedal sensor and a handlebar control, connect together and press the button - whoosh! Well 15mph unless you order the 20mph US version!

Both use the Swytch kit. Tom has written up his experience here: https://anerleybc.org/swytch-ebike-conversion-kit/

Swytch have wheel kits for almost any size wheel and can be used with both rim and disc brakes. Their website is here: https://www.swytchbike.com

CARSHALTON TO MARRAKESH

Back from their 10 week tour Sally has written up their experiences with lots of photos. Sit  back and enjoy the fragrance of France, the sun of Spain and the madness of Morocco.

Tim is still looking for offers of over 20,000 camels for ...

SPEED MERCHANTS

If trundling along on a tough 26" and enjoying the sun south of the Med then the next three months are a bad time. Its dark just after 4pm, its cold, its wet, its just miserable.

Only Miles turned up to get soaked last Sunday. So when you have finished Sally's story was not relax, lie back next to the fire and dream of how much faster you will go next year. And look good, very good.

Yes, its time to fantasise on bext year's wheels. Road.cc  have drawn u 14 super-slick bikes from Bianchi, Cannondale, Giant, Trek, Canyon for your delectation: https://road.cc/content/buyers-guide/250454-hottest-aero-road-bikes-2019-part-1

MUD MERCHANTS

Even if you get out this winter and it isn't actuall raining - the roads are still often wet and farmers add a generous helping of mud to the mix.

You be proud of your mud stripe betwen your shoulder blades but  strip but the rider behind gets it full frontal. Riding in a group is a social activity so please be kind and consider mud deflectors if your bike is 'naked'. Again road.cc have a selection for your delectation.

I hope I see more of these in front of me ...

FINALLY

For the last three weeks we have featured e-bikes. But there are rumblings in the club from the real bikers. If we allow these wimpy wheels in then why not proper powered bikes? Not 250w but 1800cc.

Dobles [at the junction where we tirn right to Couldson] have this littele beauty available. Handily already in Club colours.

If only our club funds could cover the deposit ... I guess Anerley Angels [Barrie, TomTom & Stuart] will have to wait a little longer ...

Happy Cycling!
