Our next Bugle will be on GDPR day. I'm guessing you email inbox is already littered with countless reminders from folks to reconfirm your preferences and such like. And the GDPR applies to tiny non-commercial clubs like the Anerley too since by definition we hold your email address to send you this week's edition.
This includes stuff like publishing privacy policies, safeguarding your data and recording your permissions. I'll be putting these up on the website shortly. But here is the skinny:
1) The Bugle email list is held and administered on the Mailchimp servers: https://kb.mailchimp.com/accounts/management/about-the-general-data-protection-regulation
2) Only the Bugle editor, Club Captain and Membership Officer have access to the list and data. It will not be passed to any third party or used for any commercial purpose but only to convey club information and the weekly newsletter (Bugle).
3) The information held is your email address, [and if you entered it] your name. These can be edited by you using the links at the bottom of each email. Plus a record of emails sent and whether you opened them (ie the images or links were accessed)
4) You are free to delete your account at anytime. We will delete all records pertaining to that account within two years.
5) We believe we have explicit consent from you to send the information listed above so there is no need to reconfirm. If, however, you have any doubts please unsubscribe. You can then re-subscribe if you wish using the links on the wbsite https://anerleybc.org/bugle/
Oh, and do tell your cycling buddies to join our existing 120 subscribers!
FINALLY, FINALLY
If you have your own list of club members and riders - then GDPR applies to you too. The bottom line is to keep the information secure, not mis-use it for any other purpose than it was freely given and - very importantly - report any loss of data to the club and the Information Commissioner otherwise you put yourself, the club and its officers in jepordy to quite severe fines.
This doesn't go away with Brexit either. it is English Law.
Meanwhile, Happly Cycling
