S.F. Edge on an Anerley Club Ride circa 1892. Anerley's greatest rider? In 1888, aged 20, he set the world record for 100 miles in a race on the Great North Road. Two years later he set another 100 mile record which stood for 24 years. He was the Bradley Wiggins, or being a prolific hill climber, perhaps the Chris Froome of his day! I had a email yesterday from Nigel Land of the Veteran Cycling Club telling me someone has done an article on S.F.Edge for their next issue of 'The Boneshaker' coming out on 1st April, and asking us to expand on S.F.E and history of the Club for a future Magazine, 'The Boneshaker' comes out three times a year.
A friend of mine has this very minute turned our ' A Story Told by Members 1881-1981' into a pdf maybe it could be sent out to members, I have also done six hard copies A4 size to 'give' to members, Mark Blewitt has kindly volunteered to research for the next or future issues of The Boneshaker but let that stop anyone who wants to contribute!
The story is now online in 37 pages: https://anerleybc.org/a-story-told-by-members-1881-1981/
