BICYCLIST OF THE YEAR

The President's citation for Mark's award was for many things but most importantly as an inspiration to other club riders to up their their horizons and lay on rides to fufill them (and win cups!). This despite his little contretemps with a driver who tried to drive over him earlier in the year.

BICYCLE PORN OF THE WEEK

No, not the gentleman in the fluorescent jacket. It was his knees that featured last week. This week he turned up with another startling bike - a 1988 Raleigh 'Kelloggs' Pro Tour rescued and restored. A beautiful job too. For those (and John Dr himself) who want to see an explicit full frontal video of one in 'as new' condition then go here and lust:

TOUR DE BULLECOURT

Tom & Steve have been busy fiddling with the proposed route as some of you had reservations of doing 70 miles panniered on one of the days. Its now been restructured allowing for ample opportunity to sample the occasional Calvados & Crepe every day. So, no excuses to those still dithering.

The revised plan and registration is here: https://anerleybc.org/tour-de-bullecourt-registration/

ANOTHER CONTINENTAL TOUR (AND SOME NIGHT RIDES)

The Friday's announced their summer tour this week. This also starts in Dunkirk but then takes a leisurely ride round Belgium and The Netherlands to return from the Hook of Holland. The first week in July:

The Friday's are another CTC club so, if you are a CTC affiliate or full member you only have to pay £2 (their annual sub) to come along with the greatest set of riders outside the Anerley and sharing much the same ethos. That's why about half a dozen of us are members of both.

Not sure? Then why not first come along on one of their night rides which start on the eponymous FRIDAY from central London at midnight to the coast for breakfast. Great fun and well within the capacity of any Anerley rider.  More here: http://fnrttc.co.uk

FINALLY

Specialized 2017 Roubaix models now sport disk brakes - a growing trend on road bikes despite the recent UCI ban  But are they better than rim brakes? Des has found this questioning article:
