EXCUSE OF THE WEEK

Packing to go on hols in the morning so no time to do a proper Bugle. Just a few items ...

LORRY DRIVER OF THE WEEK

Is this lorry driver a bicyclist? Or was it that German lorry drivers take extra care of cyclists by NOT PARKING in the cycle lane?

This was just up the road from our Shurguard start on Tuesday. I'm not sure all the motorists were overjoyed at having to go round him - but here's a big thumbs up to that guy and all those continental driver (especially the Dutch) who treat us as delicate objects not to be intimidated but given space.

BICYCLES OF THE WEEK

An 1885 Gilliot safety bike picture by Capt'n Mark H at the Lakeland Motor Museum - which exhibits more than mere motors. One wonders if A S Gillot's of Camberwell (where Ron Coooper leant his craft) was a descendent? Google is rather quiet about this. The museum is very near Lake Windemere and today only was half price day for pensioners - so some of us missed out.

Here are a few more snaps Mark sent in:

  • Coca-Cola Bike
  • 1930s Peugeot Path Racer (checkout those headlamps!)
  • Err, Mark, that's a vintage Jet Ski, not a bike ...

CLUB MEETING 2 - REMINDER

Secretary Fran writes:

Don't forget to keep the evening of 18th September free for our Anerley meeting. We will start at 8pm and if you get there a bit early you can have a cuppa, and be sociable with other members. The meeting will be held in the United Reformed Church in Purley, our usual venue. A reminder that if you have any issues you wish to discuss, email me by replying to this email under the heading 'Anerley Club Meeting 2'.

Hope to see you all there.

FINALLY: VIDEO OF THE WEEK

Cycleway 9  gets greenlighted in West London. Maybe this video helped show up the Conservative Councillors who wanted to keep Chiswick cucle-free for the benefit of choking traffic.

It's a great video to highlight issues just as much in Crodon or any other urban centre in the UK.
