QUOTE  OF THE WEEK

“Marriage is a wonderful invention: then again, so is a bicycle repair kit" - Billy Connolly

BICYCLISTS  OF THE WEEK

Yep - they have quietly gone and done the decent thing this week! Congratulations and may all your rides be happy ones. Congratulations to the very new Mr & Mrs Vaz.

BICYCLE OF THE WEEK

Just a hint to Tom - this is the equal opportunity tandem. One's better half doesn't have to relegated to the rear to view your rear. The Hase Pino puts the [lady?] stoker upfront. Better still - you don't have to go far to get one. The British Agent is London Recumbents in Dulwich Park. You can try 'em out there. More: https://hasebikes.com/95-1-Tandem-PINO-ALLROUND.html

GOT A TANDEM - WHERE TO HONEYMOON?

This lady and her other half now live in Penge. Which is SE20 - as is Anerley having emigrated south from Forest Hill. So we can almost claim them as our own.

They had a two year honeymoon which is a lot better than most of us manage. Tom, you have a little challenge. Around the world in 720 days or thereabout? Stick that up your Garmin!

OH, THE SHAME OF BEING MARRIED TO A MAMIL

I've never met Nina - but I can sympathise with her.  Is she about to go through the same challenge as this lady in a way only the Daily Mail [sorry] can reveal: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2869069/Oh-shame-married-MAMIL-s-Middle-Aged-Man-Lycra.html

CYCLIST'S WAGS

Yes, the rest of us blokes can fantasise - again thanks to the great British tabloid institution: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3696116/Meet-glamorous-cycling-WAGs-Tour-France.html

RIDE REPORTS

Saturday 31st March: The first Springtime ride for the Saturdays turned out to be a rather cold and wintery occasion. Four of us at the start, Maggie, Miles, Roger and Pete set out towards Tanhouse farm via Chipstead Valley and Kingswood.

By the time we reached Betchworth with the temperature in single figures and a fine drizzle, the cold and damp had sapped our enthusiasm and we took early shelter at Squires garden centre. Return was via the short route straight to Reigate and Merstham where we split, with Maggie and Roger tackling Shepherds hill while Miles and myself took the flatter route along the A23.

The rain arrived just after we finished so not a great day in the saddle but it could have been worse. Just 28 miles at a chilly 11 MPH
