And who is John Forester?

The man who has had a major influence on the way the Anerley rides today. He is the father of philosophy of 'vehicular cycling'. Not riding in the kerb but being part of the traffic flow and controlling the space around one. His definitive work 'Effective Cycling' hugely influences our own 'Cyclecraft' the bible of today's cycle training.

John is the son of C S Forester (of Hornblower fame) born in East Dulwich in 1929 and emigrated to the USA in 1940 and is still making waves at 88.

He is truly a marmite giant in cycling. Worshipped by many and loathed by just as many. To find out more go here:

TRICYCLE  OF THE WEEK

Its Christmas Lights time in the High Street. And time to bling your bike for the festive season?

Thanks to Pete S who spotted this beauty ... "On our way to Bletchingly we spotted a guy putting this rusty tricycle outside the front of his house. It's been at the back of a shed for decades. Covered in fairy lights from Lidl at £5 it is now on offer on Ebay for £50!"

On my way home cycling down Caterham High St with the oncoming traffic stationery
I noticed a dark blue Skoda with WIGGINS emblazoned down the side which caught my attention.

As I got nearer I saw Bradley in the drivers seat so waved enthusiastically to him as a fellow cyclist. When I drew level with the car, I saw it was a left hand drive car being driven by a lady with a cardboard replica of Bradley in the passenger seat ! ... I had been waving to a cardboard cutout....  

I’m almost certainly not the first but did feel a little sheepish as the lady driver gave me a knowing smile.
