FINALLY

Research from the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and Nottingham University has found “increased odds of a collision crash” among cyclists who wear reflective clothing. The researchers did go on to point out that the results “should be treated with caution” however, as they were based on only 76 accidents.

The importance is that people making rules about cycling safety should be wary of doing so without good evidence. Indeed we should we not be be concentrating on funding the research even though  rather than jump to a conclusion that could be wrong?

That's the approach the airline safety industry went with great results. To date many ill evidenced 'safety' rules and laws around the world have had no dramatic improvement and in some cases has been bad.

Sorry I ran out of time this week so next week we have:

* Frank on nutrition
* Dave G meets Bradley Wiggins, sort of ...
* Tina on the bottle ...

Happy and safe cycling!
