QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark, when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle and go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the ride you are taking.” - Arthur Conan Doyle

BICYCLIST OF THE WEEK - NOT!

This gentleman first chased this car and then, at a traffic light, attempted to steal it off the back of the car - in South London this very week. Watch the video here - and if you recognise the guy - please share with the rozzers. Mind you, he can cycle faster than some of us!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdiZxl79zU4&feature=youtu.be

BICYCLES OF THE WEEK

A really cool low rider bike to bring out the hipster on all of us?

One of an amazing series of fantasy bikes on the Hartley Cycles stand at last week's Spin Exhibition at Olympia (thanks for the tickets TomTom). Blow is the Frinton Flyer for those that don't like cleats - or even pedalling.

Caren Hartley is the founder of Hartley Cycles, an award-winning bespoke bicycle company in East Dulwich. Having first trained as a jeweller and silversmith, Caren then worked in a variety of metalwork disciplines including sculpture and large scale public art before deciding to focus her creativity on the bicycle. Checkout some of her more conventional designs here: http://www.hartleycycles.com/

TOUR DE BULLECOURT - THE FINAL CUT

Tom, in relaxed mode on the voyage home, recalls the final part of our French & Belgian adventure. No red wine was involved. Well, errr ...  not enough red wine ... https://anerleybc.org/tour-de-bullecourt-part-2/

Meanwhile I received this input from an even more relaxed John E:

If you go the http://www.everymanremembered.org/ website and type in Montague William Calder Honourable Artillery Company, we can add commemorations and stories to do with him, at the moment there are no stories or commemorations, I think it would be nice for the club and it's members to do so!

WANNABEE A LEADER?

Tom V writes:
We need a ride leader for the following Sunday 28th as I am at Cubcamp. It is to Agora in East Grinstead followed by Red Lion at Turners Hill. I can supply my standard gpx if it will help!

FINALLY - DOING THE TON

There is always a thrill in riding 100 miles. And a bit of a thrill for me that The Bugle has done its own now with 102 subscribers.

This reflects the rapid growth of the club in the past couple of years. But not everybody may be on the list. Can you check with any new riders, or riders thinking about riding with us - are subscribed to the list?

Subscribing is as simple as going to our website https://anerleybc.org clicking on 'The Bugle', look for the subscribe button, add your email address - and that's it!

All new subscribers are automatically added to the 'Ride Update' list. If you don't want that you can unsubscribe when you get one (not here) and you will still get the Bugle.

Happy Cycling!
