BREXITEER QUOTE  OF THE WEEK

“When Cameron’s Conservatives come to power it will be a golden age for cyclists and an Elysium of cycle lanes, bike racks, and sharia law for bike thieves. And I hope that cycling in London will become almost Chinese in its ubiquity.” - Boris Johnson, The Guardian, March 18, 2006

BICYCLIST  OF THE WEEK

Yep, the man that time forgot. An old man amongst old men at the wrong end of the club but still one of the fastest whether on single speed or rrelaxing with your actual gears - I give you Dave G. A man not to be undersestimated anywhere - and now back from his four week sojourn in the Antipodes and out last Tuesday on Cup Collection duty [see below]

BICYCLE OF THE WEEK

Yet to be seen on a club ride [are you watching Ajay?] this little monster will win a triathalon for you doubling up possibly as a sub with conning tower. Yours for a mere five thousand smackers or so.

JOHN T

Here is an update from Meike on Thursday:

He was transferred to Mayday yesterday afternoon.  He was quite chatty today, when he is not tired, but does not make a lot of sense at the moment when he is tired but that should change they hope when they start his treatments next week..

Give you all a laugh, typical John,  after lunch today he threw back his covers and said "Okay let's go,"  where to?  says I.  "To the garage of course INTERVAL TRAINING".  Well what else would he say for goodness sake.

Thank you all for your warm wishes for him they are much appreciated.

CUP COLLECTION

Another Trophy to add to our collection - or rather returned to our collection. The 'A' ride this Tuesday collected this 1912 cup from AD Cycles in Horsham. It was awarded for Road Handicaps for 25 miles in 1:16:32 and 212 miles in 12 hours. But we don't know who to. The 1912 records have yet to be found but Des is on the job.

FINALLY

Nervous about sending your bike by courier or plane? You should be - a lot get damaged. But one manufacturer found an ingenious solution. Not by encaseing in strong box - but quite the opposite. Yep, they achieved a 70% decrease in damage by packing it in a cardbox box that looked like it had a flat sscreen TV inside.

It looks like our baggage handlers are more concerned to protect your coach potato life than your cycling life. Full story here: http://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/latest-news/bike-manufacturer-reduces-delivery-damage-70-per-cent-printing-tv-box-285180
