QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“I relax by taking my bicycle apart and putting it back together again” - Michelle Pfeiffer

BICYCLIST OF THE WEEK

Young TomTom for being one of 46 riding to Southend-on-Sea on last Friday Night's Ride to the Coast and being awake enough afterwards to destroy a 'Full English' on the beach. For leading numerous Tuesday Rides and being TEC on many more. Oh, and for just being TomTom.

Join him on the next FNRttC to Whitstable, April 7th. The Waterfront destination is unique in adding beer to their 'Full English' breakfast (as an option so no excuse for not coming). Need to know more? Ask TomTom, Brian or Stuart. Its great fun or go here: http://fridaynightridetothecoast.blogspot.co.uk/p/april-7-2017.html

All rides are 'free' but you must register and be a member of CTC, BC or LCC and pay their annual FNRttC sub of just £2.

BICYCLE OF THE WEEK

Also on last Friday Night's ride was a TJ Cycles 'Flying Gate' which is still being produced 83 years after the first one was brazed, proving British engineers were already rethinking the conventional diamond frame as long ago as 1934.

THIS WEEK'S RIDES

Sunday Leisure: 9am Shurguard/501 Brighton Road. Capt'n Tom leads to the Conservatory Cafe at Horsham and returning via The White Horse at Shere.

I'm thinking of going on to Shoreham-by-Sea for lunch after Horsham if the weather is good. That might make the imperial ton if one cycles back. But then the train may win ... let me know if you are interested.

Sunday Scorcher: 10am? No news  but check for late breaking news here: https://anerleybc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16

Tuesday: 10am Shurguard/501 Brighton Road. TomTom leads to Polhill Garden Centre

Thursday: 10am Shurguard/501 Brighton Road. TBA check website.

The Rise and Fall of the the World's Greatest Bicycle Company. The technology, the marketing, the workers and some of its riders including this little girl of 10 who, with her dad, cycled over 100 miles from Huddersfield to Rhyl in a day. And then cycled back the next day.
