Mansfield no42 Eclipse leather sprinter saddle

Post by John Eden » Sat Jun 24, 2017 6:05 pm

Today I bought this saddle, first produced in 1925 by Brooks then by Mansfield ( a firm I had never heard of until last Tuesday) :o and maybe others, discontinued in the 1960's I think,it is a very narrow saddle was used in track and short time trials, this one as bag loops which most Sprinter saddles do not. It as a marvelous oval embossed logo on the sides, it's not in bad condition. I may put it on single speed bike or just polish it up and admire it! or take it around as a conversation starter! I also bought a 1950's Holdsworth frame with cotter pin bottom bracket, brake cable guides on underside of the top tube, and to me an unusual Campag seat pin, Ron, Frank k friend who sold me the item is going to find the Williams crank set that fitted the Holdsworth. never thought I might restore a 1950's bike.
