Cold Hard Facts!

QUOTE  OF THE WEEK

“Ever bike? Now that's something that makes life worth living!...Oh, to just grip your handlebars and lay down to it, and go ripping and tearing through streets and road, over railroad tracks and bridges, threading crowds, avoiding collisions, at twenty miles or more an hour, and wondering all the time when you're going to smash up. Well, now, that's something! And then go home again after three hours of it...and then to think that tomorrow I can do it all over again!”  – Jack London

BICYCLIST  OF THE WEEK

Jenny Grant, still peddling up and down the hills on a Tuesday morning with a very happy smile on her face.

Our treasurer George, on his first ride with the Tuesday group, decided to take individual picture of the riders because "it is nice to put faces to the names". You certainly captured the camaraderie of the Tuesday gang George! Pictures on Facebook for those who need to look!

BICYCLE OF THE WEEK

More snow and ice forecast. When the Beast from the East came calling in Feb, the Boris bike was as good as anything.

If the weather forecasters haven't been drinking meths again, we are due for snow and ice. Look out for cancellations on Sunday and Tuesday!

SPECTACULAR VINTAGE CYCLING FESTIVAL AT HISTORIC HERNE HILL
Herne Hill Velodrome Dulwich Village, London on the 14, 15 and 16 June 2018
Buy Tickets - From £39

The World Cycling Revival Festival, the greatest celebration of the bicycle the world has ever seen, will be a high end heritage sporting, music and lifestyle festival celebrating 200 years of the bicycle. The event is set in the halcyon days of the Herne Hill Velodrome, when it hosted the London 1948 Olympics, and our patrons will be invited to wear vintage themed clothing throughout the whole festival.

The Anerley has a long and very proud record at Herne Hill. I would like to get a gang together to attend this spectacular event!

MISSING LINK

A chain might get bent and twisted if a stick gets stuck in it, you don’t realize it, and you keep pedaling. If the links get bent badly, the chain will trip up running through the derailleurs and can damage them. So you want to fix the chain. To do so requires removing the damaged section of the chain.

AND FINALLY

Stuart comes back from his jaunt to sunny Spain on Staurday. He asked me to make sure that the weather was under control for the weekend but it has proven to be as fickle as the average Anerley cycling maverick. Sorry Stuart!!
