RECENT RIDE REPORTS

Sunday 5th: Cancelled due to poor weather except for Frank who reported:

Selsdon  sun came out  about 9.45 am this morning while on the PC. Decided I would go for it. Strong wind from the west.

Plenty of large puddles and rivulets on way to Beddlestead Lane. Very few cyclists.  Only a few cars overtook me up the lane. Clark's Lane descent was exhilarating. Fortunately the  next rain storm was to the south of the downs.

Hung my bike up at the Cyclery. Not been here since pre referendum when an Anerley crowd were here due to bad weather and had a great discussion  about possible Brexit! See attached cartoon. I don’t think Liz and Phil are too worried. Something  The Lords don't want to understand is that Mother Theresa will be seeking a quid pro quo i.e. EU migrants remain in UK  and Brits remain in Europe.

The two guys were up from Dormansland area set out at 9 am so were thoroughly saturated. They are training for the Pyrenees Atlantic/Med ride, 750km, in the summer.

Went back up Titsey Hill that was not too bad. No slower than 3mph in steepest parts… Limpsfield Road was blustery from the side. A guy overtook me and somewhat later just as I was catching him up he turned right! Could see that the next heavy rain showers were coming from the west. I thought I could get to Selsdon in time.  But over Farleigh Common heavy blustery sleet hit me and penetrated my helmet so I was suitably wet and frozen. Still hot shower was not far away….
